Chinese New Year Case Study

Brief

Audio Visual Events were charged with the momentous task of providing all equipment for the ANZ 2009 Chinese New Year function at the prestigious Shangri-La hotel in Sydney. A truly authentic look was called for to help shape an elemental theme for this huge annual event, one that kept in step with the traditional themes of the celebration.

Solution

Two large rear projection screens were used for the main vision, with multiple plasmas hung behind the stage on vertical truss, allowing attendees to view a combination of show logo and live feeds on the main screens, the rear screens, or all at the same time. Intelligent moving head and LED lighting was also used to encompass the theme of the event; dancers in green were doused in green light to convey an earthy performance - while the Chinese dragon was tracked in a fire-red glow during its ferocious entrance.
